Our Situation
Where we are NOW!
Like the rest of the world, Africa is facing the consequences of Climate Change.
While there are several effects of climate change which affect the peoples of Africa in very diverse ways, our interests is to narrow down the effects to those most relevant to our target population. We also recognize the interconnectedness of these effects.
Looming Hunger Crisis
Climate change and extreme weather are fueling a global increase in hunger and malnutrition. These threats disrupt food production by harming fisheries, reducing crop yields, and impacting livestock. Our oceans are becoming more acidic, putting marine life that billions rely on at risk. Melting snow and ice cover disrupts traditional food sources for communities that rely on herding, hunting, and fishing in the Arctic. Heatwaves are causing water scarcity and harming grasslands, leading to crop failures and impacting livestock health.
Poverty and Displacement
Over the past decade, an average of 23.1 million people were displaced annually by weather disasters, pushing many deeper into poverty. These displaced populations often come from countries already struggling with climate vulnerability and limited resources to adapt. They lack the infrastructure and financial security to bounce back from climate shocks, further entrenching poverty.
Climate change acts as a threat multiplier, worsening factors that trap people in poverty. it destroys homes, farms, businesses, and livelihoods.
Increased Health Risks
Climate change is the most significant health threat to humanity. Its impacts are already causing widespread harm through air pollution, increased disease prevalence, extreme weather events, forced displacement, mental health burdens, and rising hunger and malnutrition, particularly in areas struggling with food security. Yearly, environmental factors linked to climate change claim an estimated 13 million lives. Changing weather patterns are causing diseases to spread further, while extreme weather events directly contribute to deaths and overwhelm healthcare systems globally.
Our Intervention
How we Are Contributing a more sustenable Environment
Sustainable Agriculture
While we tackle the challenges of feeding the growing population, care must be taken to be innovative and sustainable. Agricultural practices must maximise produce and be environmentally friendly.
Urban Green Spaces
In many African Countries, Urban Centres are quickly spreading large expanses of construction. This leaves little space for any vegetation. Efforts must go into creating pockets of green spaces where it is possible.
Youth Education Programs
We cannot secure the future of our planet without preparing the youth through educational programs. They must learn practical ways to lead the change that ensures a better and sustainable world for everyone.
Our Impact
Here's What we Have Achieved so far...
We run small projects that support the environment via our 3 part interventions of sustainable agriculture, urban green spaces and Youth education. These Estimates reflects our work:
