SEVICS Campaigns

Our Campaigns

SEVICS has a proud history of using campaigns to take a stand against issues we consider oppressive, particularly those impacting young people, vulnerable groups, and the systems that support them. In each campaign, we strive to raise awareness, spark dialogue, and drive positive change.

2024 - Climate Action

SEVICS joins the fight for a more sustainable environment for people everywhere in the world especially the peoples of Africa. Statistics show that the countries with the least carbon emission are more likely to be the biggests sufferers of the impact of climate change. This is because they are less developed and have less resources to combat the  many adverse effects of climate change.

While there are several effects of climate change which affect the peoples of Africa in very diverse ways, our interests is to narrow down the effects to those most relevant to our target population including looming hunger crisis, increased health risks, poverty and displacements. We also recognize the interconnectedness of these effects and work to tackle them individually or collectively.

Our interventions include sustainable agriculture, urban green space and youth education programs.

2024 - #EnoughisEnough

Nigerians are taking to the streets, demanding change under the #EnoughisEnough banner. Disputed elections, economic hardship (fuel prices, inflation), insecurity, and ineffective policies fuel their discontent.

SEVICS stands with them, amplifying their demands:

  • Reverse negative trends: Stabilize the economy, combat inflation, and address insecurity.
  • Concrete actions: Implement effective policies that alleviate suffering, not just pronouncements.
  • Restore faith in government: Ensure transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the people’s needs.

Nigerians deserve better. SEVICS urges the government to heed their calls and work towards a more just and prosperous future for all.

2023 - #Afrakandance

2021 - #SilencingtheGuns

SEVICS joins the fight for a conflict-free Africa by signing the AU’s #SilencingtheGuns pledge. Recognizing the devastating impact of wars and violence, we commit to supporting the ambitious goal of silencing the guns by 2030.

Our focus lies on empowering young people and vulnerable groups, fostering their crucial role in building lasting peace. We actively spread awareness, advocate for increased resources, and engage youth in conflict resolution training, equipping them with tools for dialogue and positive change.

SEVICS believes true peace requires more than the absence of war; it demands a just and equitable future where all can thrive. We stand united with the AU in making #SilencingtheGuns a reality, paving the way for a brighter, more peaceful Africa.

2021 - #AfCFTA

SEVICS is rallying behind the #SokokuuRevolution, urging Africans to join the movement towards realizing the full potential of the AfCFTA. Our campaign video paints a vibrant picture of the benefits for entrepreneurs, consumers, and innovators across the continent.

We believe Sokokuu is more than just a platform; it’s a symbol of African unity, collaboration, and shared prosperity.

Beyond raising awareness, SEVICS actively supports users by facilitating sign-ups, building capacity through workshops, and advocating for policy improvements.

We invite you to join the movement! Sign up on Sokokuu, explore its offerings, and contribute to a brighter, more connected Africa. Every action counts – be part of the #SokokuuRevolution!

2020 - #EndSARS

In 2020, the #EndSARS movement ignited a fire across Nigeria, demanding an end to police brutality and bad governance. SEVICS stood in solidarity with the courageous young people at the forefront, amplifying their voices and fighting for justice.

More than a Hashtag: Our Actions

We didn’t just lend our voice online; we took action:

  • Powerful video: We released a powerful campaign video that resonated with thousands, capturing the raw emotions and unwavering spirit of the movement.
  • Challenging narratives: We countered the government’s harmful narrative by releasing a well-researched article exposing the dangers of labeling peaceful protesters as “hoodlums.” This provided crucial context and challenged misinformation.

Impact and Beyond

Our campaign contributed to the growing momentum of #EndSARS, fostering dialogue and demanding accountability. While the fight for justice continues, SEVICS remains committed to supporting young people and vulnerable groups in their pursuit of a better Nigeria.
